From the demure suburbs of East Sydney comes a best donning a jetpack and straddling a kick drum that can be felt from hear to Antarctica. Born in 2009 (year of the Ox) Light Year attained all the qualities needed to become a successful dance troupe. A partnership founded on adverse ideals and very uncommon habits. The one on the drum machine, the one with the small synth obsession, the one who drank still, the one who drank sparkling, the one with the height, the one with the width, the Biggie fan and the 'Pac fan.
Unbeknownst to the average dancer it was in fact a political statement of love for all things dance the boys were making with their higher learning anthem 'Sex Education' lifter from their March 2010 EP release Night/Vision. Championed by the who's who and has a clue of the disc-jockey breed, including captains of cabaret Tiga, Mr. Oizo, Surkin (whom they have remixed for 10 bags of free gummy snakes) and 2manyDJs (who used it in their live show - cutting up a visual bonanza).
Realising that time did in actual fact not stand still as they had originally believed, it too Light Year no time to produce their second EP which has hit like a ball and chain. '5 Girls' saw #23 getting a tanning from the likes of Erol Alkan, 2manyDJs (cutting up yet again another visual bonanza), Feadz, Etienne de Crecy and has made appearances on Radio 1 being turned around by guys with voices like the Queen.
5 GIRL5 EP by Light Year
Nina Las Vegas (Triple J House Party)
Host of House Party 6pm every Saturday night on Triple J - those of you who were lucky enough to see her set down at Knock! Knock! Who's There? at the Barking Dog over summer all know how much Nina dominates the decks.
With mish mash of indie/disco/dance tracks you can expect to hear the best of new and unreleased music you listen to on the J every Saturday night!
Trump Disco (Common Trolls)
Boasting a rich history of remixes for prevalent artists such as Phoenix, Yolanda Be Cool & Dcup, Greenskeepers, Rammstien, Haezer and Adam Freeland is barely the tip of the iceberg for this Australian duo. 2010 was a defining year for Trumpdisco achieving feats that only great talent can aspire to.
The duo are signed to Melbourne record label Common Trolls; and after a successful tour of South East Asia and New Zealand they've generated immense hype and acclaim for their debut EP and are set to release their second official EP in the near future.
