One to watch: The Immigrant

Writer: Kid's Table

Artist: The Immigrant (Aus)
Title: Summer of Love (She Said)
Label: OneLove Recordings

Following in the footsteps of Australian Indie electronic artists such as: Cut Copy, Empire of The Sun and The Presets, is emerging talent 'The Immigrant'.

Already with huge support from musical giant Tiesto on the epic Angger Dimas remix, this mysterious musical nomad has made his mark on this European Summer (Tiesto in Atlantic City):

After the impressive impact with his debut single: 'Through The Wire', which included airplay by leading national broadcaster Triple J, The Immigrant returns once again with vocalist Danny Ross, on 'Summer Of Love (She Said).' Part post electro, part late night indie shindig sing-a-long, all put together with an understated confidence showing great production maturity in on so young.

The A list remix package holds high, now with the Polyfonik boys string-laden gem alongside Australian sensation Tommy Trash giving his own electro-house work over to smash dancefloors. Not forgetting the outstanding original and THAT Angger Dimas remix.

Tour Dates:

July
Sat 2nd - River Sessions, Mackay
Sat 16th - Chinese Laundry, Sydney
Fri 22nd - Fridays @ Academy, Canberra
Sat 30th - Superdisco @ The Prince, Melbourne

August
Thurs 4th - One Five One, Wollongong
Sat 6th - Fampire, Brisbane

Five Girls by Light Year

Tommy Trash 'The End' [Rob Pix Remix] by robpix

Geetroit's favourite radalaide son's by the name of Loot & Plunder will be back in all time form. Hopefully they bring their A game to the beer pong table again and represent their state proudly. Here's a sexy house edit that can do nothing but pleasure you aurally.

Phats & Small - Turn Around (Loot & Plunder Re-Edit) by Loot & Plunder Djs

Madeon: 16 years old

Writer: Kid's Table

For those of you who haven't had the aural pleasure of Madeon yet then today is the day! This 16 year old french wonder has already achieved what many of us budding DJs/Producers could only dream of. Madeon has not only won the Pendulum 'Island' remix competition but received a glowing endorsement from the legendary Pete Tong (BBC Radio 1) for his remix of Deadmau5' 'Raise Your Weapons'.

Check out some of Madeon's amazing upbeat synthpop remixes and orignals below:

#1 Like This (Audiojack Remix) - Kevin Knapp Download

Label: Leftroom Limited

Genre: Tech House

'Like This' is Kevin Knapps EP on the Leftroom Limited label. Audiojack is definitely one of the best produces of this funky style tech house. The comeback after the break is brilliant, with clever delayed vocals and piano synthesisers that scream funk.

#2 Hyperion (Sebastien Leger Remix) - Siwell Download

Label: Mistakes Music

Genre: Techno

'Hyperion' is part of Siwell's debut EP on Mistakes Music, alongside another track called 'Melting Pot'. Sebastien Leger delivers yet another amazing remix on his label, with a crisp techno baseline and groovy synth notes.

#3 Go Get It (Original Mix) - Hermanez Download

Label: Monique Musique

Genre: Tech House

Just a nice underground tech house groove here, with the distinct sound of Hermanez. The percussion really makes this track, with lively snare and hat hits, and a rumbling baseline that pulls it nicely together.

#4 Agent Minimal (Original Mix) - Louie Cut Download

Label: PISO Records

Genre: Minimal

Minimal James Bond Theme? Yes Please. Composing the Bond them from scratch and using it as a drop throughout the track, it also has that sweet generic minimalistic baseline and percussion pops, fixed with a trombone here and there.

Okay look, I respect you all too much to lie straight to your faces, I DID have an article already prepared and written up that was choc full of all the ridiculous tangents and horrific puns that you will all soon grow to know and hate, but last night at the hands of the Triple J Mix Up, I experienced something special, Something utterly remarkable, that has led me to grow, and perhaps even mature as a human being. Introducing MayaVanya.

MAYAVANYA -It Began In Africa Project by MayaVanya

I’m a self professed sceptic, and since my earliest introduction to the female DJ was at the claws of ‘DJ’ Havana Brown, I feel that scepticism is justified. So when I heard that Croatian born (New Zealand raised) sister duo Maya and Vanya Milinović (known as MayaVanya) were coming up with their mixtape contribution to the show, of course I was worried. Wouldn’t you be? Any other sexist pigs in the house? No? okay, moving on..

But in all seriousness, all jokes aside, since taking out the DJ Search competition put on by none other than the folks at Beatport, Pioneer DJ and DJ Mag, the girls haven’t taken a backward step. Infusing their passion for tribal/tropical based tunes into their personal style and the music they create, MayaVanya Have been making their presence felt all over the world, whether it be rocking festivals that I can’t even afford to attend, or pumping out remixes, bootlegs and original productions that leave me feeling completely disgusted at my own attempts at musical.. birth?
With one look at the tracklist for their Triple J mix I was sold. Throwing around household names such as Munchi, Heartbreak, Canblaster and many, many more, the girls dropped a set that was as smooth as it was unique, and within minutes I’d already downloaded everything I could off their soundcloud. I strongly suggest you all check out MayaVanya for yourselves. If you like them, GREAT, and if you don’t like them, I dunno. Maybe I’m just a sucker for a pretty face.

(None of my personal views on women were expressed in the course of this blogpost. Sorry Mum.)
